Gateway: one data layer for the common protocols
Your heating runs on BACnet, the meters speak M-Bus, the new room sensors send over LoRaWAN. The baiond Gateway can read all of them, so you see one building instead of five systems — usually without replacing what already works.

In one sentence
The baiond Gateway is the hardware and software layer that reads sensors, meters and building systems in the common protocols and turns them into one consistent data stream for the baiond platform.
Most buildings already collect plenty of data. It just sits in separate systems: the building management system, the energy meters, the lighting control, a handful of wireless sensors someone installed last year. Each has its own screen, its own login and its own way of naming things.
The baiond Gateway sits next to these systems and listens. It reads the chiller over BACnet, the heat meters over M-Bus and the room sensors over LoRaWAN, gives every value a unit, a timestamp and a place, and sends it to baiond. Your existing automation keeps doing its job.
The result is one data layer. When the server room in building B gets warm, baiond can see the room temperature, the chiller's supply temperature and the damper position side by side — and point to the likely cause.
What changes for you.
-
Keep what you have
Existing controllers, meters and field buses can usually be connected as they are. No rip-and-replace, no second building management system.
-
One view across vendors
Readings from different manufacturers land in one place with the same units and names, so sites and buildings become comparable.
-
Add sensors any time
A new wireless sensor is paired quickly and appears next to the data you already have — in the right room, from the first reading.

A question only this function makes answerable, answered the way baiond answers: readings, reasons, a recommendation and the source.
Checked Room sensor (LoRaWAN) · chiller (BACnet) · damper (KNX) · baiond Gateway How did baiond know?

The sensor reports to the baiond Gateway, the Space System puts the reading in context (location, threshold, history), and the AI agent turns it into an answer.

- Room temperature 27.4°C
- Limit 24°C
- Chiller supply 7.0°C
The chiller is fine — the cold air is not reaching the room. The chiller supplies 7.0 °C as planned, but the room sensor reads 27.4 °C, above the 24 °C limit, and the supply-air damper on KNX has been closed since 19:42.
Open the supply-air damper and have the actuator checked tomorrow morning. I will alert you if the room passes 28 °C.
Would you like me to investigate further?
Looking closer. This is what the data shows:
Possible reasons- Supply-air damper closed since 19:42 (KNX actuator)
- Chiller supply temperature normal at 7.0 °C (BACnet)
- Room temperature rising 1.1 °C per hour since then (LoRaWAN sensor)
The sensor reports to the baiond Gateway, the Space System puts the reading in context (location, threshold, history), and the AI agent turns it into an answer.

Understood. I keep watching Building B · Server room 0.14 and let you know if anything changes.

Protocols
Building automation: BACnet, KNX, Modbus (RTU / TCP), DALI. Metering: M-Bus. Wireless: LoRaWAN, NB-IoT. IT and cloud: MQTT, OPC UA, SNMP, REST APIs. Further protocols on request.
Data model
Every reading is normalised on arrival: value, unit, timestamp, source device and data point. Each data point is assigned to a space in the Space System, so a value always knows which room, floor and site it belongs to.
Operation
- Reads alongside the existing automation; write access only where you enable it
- Buffers readings locally if the connection drops and sends them later
- Uplink via Ethernet or mobile network
- Configured and updated remotely
Integration
New data points are mapped once in baiond — name, unit, space. From then on they are available to dashboards, alerts and the AI agents like any other value.
